About

A black tote bag with white bows

During the start of the pandemic in 2020, I found myself getting frustrated while stuck at home under lockdown, and I decided to try out a new hobby to keep my hands and mind busy. I tried my hand at embroidery, remembering how my grandmother had once taught me how to hand-sew small pillows when I was a little girl. The feeling of sewing was instantly familiar—a memory long tucked away. Since then, embroidery has become an almost meditative practice for me, and I always hope to bring that sense of joy and serenity to others through my art.

Additionally, as an artist, I believe that art can be combined with many other practices, such as activism. In my personal life, I advocate for individuals who experience psychosis and other mental health conditions, I work and volunteer with individuals who experience homelessness, and I try to incorporate the principles of disability justice into my everyday life. In fact, I have a master’s degree in Critical Disability Studies. Combining my art with my activism is something I am continuing to explore, and I am excited to bring new ideas, projects, and art pieces to the table based on my interdisciplinary background.
